Truckin for Pluta Fundraiser

We are Terry and Clarence Davis, a trucker team that drives for YRC Glen Moore Transport. I, Terry, was diagnosed with cancer in February 2010, and was successfully treated at Pluta Cancer Center. I was released and rejoined Clarence on the road to start back working in November 2010.

May is Nurse’s month, so in honor of the hardworking Nurses, as well as Doctors and all the other staff that work at Pluta to help the cancer patients and their families, we are having a month long fundraising event in May.

We will donate a penny for every mile we are dispatched to run in May, and challenge people to sponsor us an amount per mile, or an amount per load. We expect to run 15,000 to 19,000 miles, so that would be $150-$190 at a penny per mile. We average 9-12 loads per month, so at $5 per load, that would be $45-$60.

You can follow our progress and pledge your financial support on this blog. You can also indicate if you are pledging in honor of, or in memory of a particular person.

After all the miles and loads are totaled up, you can either:

Make a check or money order out to Pluta Cancer Center Foundation, and send it to:
Truckin’ for Pluta
Pluta Cancer Center
125 Red Creek Drive
Rochester, NY 14623

Or:

Make your donation online at:

We hope to visit Pluta Cancer Center on May 12 with our their truck. We will answer questions for anyone who would like to come by and visit with us. If you’ve been wondering what the inside of these big trucks look like, here’s your chance to see. Kids are welcome, too!

The money raised during this event will directly benefit local people that are patients at the Pluta Cancer Center. This money will be used to offer, at no charge to the patients, massage therapy, dietician services, and classes such as healthy cooking, tai chi and gentle yoga. This is very different from many fundraisers, where the money raised goes out of the Rochester area, and much of that money is used for lawyers and professional fundraiser salaries.

Thank you for your support!
