Truckin For Pluta
This is the official website for the Truckin for Pluta Fundraiser. Terry and Clarence Davis are a trucker team that drives for YRC Glen Moore Transport. Terry was diagnosed with cancer in February 2010, and was successfully treated at Pluta Cancer Center. She was released and rejoined Clarence on the road to start back working in November 2010. They are holding this fundraiser in May to honor the hardworking Nurses, Doctors and other staff at Pluta during National Nurse's Month.

Tornado Warning
Well, it took a little extra time to get to Olive Branch. We had to stop in Sayre, OK Tuesday night because of the tornadoes. We heard on the radio that one crossed I 40 by El Reno, and there were at least 2 in the Oklahoma City area. We stopped about 100 miles west of these, just to be on the safe side. Wednesday morning we headed out, and got to West Memphis, AR. We stopped again because a severe thunderstorm with tornado warnings was right in this area. We have a feature on our CB radio that will sound an alarm if there is a tornado by us, even if the radio is off, and it was sounding the alarm. We let the thunderstorm pass by, and then headed out to Olive Branch, MS.
May 18 1119 Miles
Early Wednesday, May 18, we left Piscataway, NJ, and went over to Harrisburg PA to get an oil change and lube at Speedco (the Jiffy Lube for trucks). Then our dispatcher asked us to go to Shartlesville, PA, to help a driver that had become ill. I drove our truck, while Clarence drove the other driver's truck, and we went to our terminal in Carlisle, PA, where the driver's wife was coming to pick him up. All this deadhead was 313 miles. Then we picked up a load that another driver had dropped at the terminal, and took it to Tifton, GA. (806 miles).

A few Thank Yous
We have a few thank yous we'd like to post:
Thank you to Helga and John for you generous donation in Memory of your dog Bandit. I don't know why the comment didn't post on the blog. I have copied it in below.
We are sending in a check for $50.00
in memory dog Bandit who recently
passed away from cancer.
Helga & John
Thank you to Sue Yantch for your generous check for $25.
Thank you to Jean Jones and family for pledging $5 per load.
We appreciate each and every pledge and donation. We know it will help Pluta Cancer Center patients with the extra services that will help them get through the treatments.
One of the extra services that Pluta offers to their patients is being able to meet, talk with, and receive assistance from Susan Nelson, the Social Worker at Pluta. I don't think she gets enough credit for helping us. She provided invaluable support to me (and Clarence), especially when I was finished with the treatments and had to have a biopsy to see if the treatment worked. Yes, she was able to "talk me in off the ledge", but was also able to track down answers for me when I was not getting them from other providers. She runs the Cancer Support Group that meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, and is always quick with a calming and comforting word for everyone she sees. A Very Big Thank You to Susan!
Visit to Pluta May 12
We had a wonderful visit at the Pluta Cancer Center on Thursday, May 12. Everyone that came out to see the truck was happy they could look inside and see our little "home away from home". They were amazed that we had bunk beds, a 40 qt cooler and cooker that runs off the 12 volt truck batteries, and all the gauges in the dashboard. Cindy Carroll provided coffee and donuts for everyone. Jan Regan was there to take photos, and Jon Alhart from Dixon Schwable came and took photos and video. Some of the Pluta cancer survivors made the trip out to see us as well. If anyone was able to get a good group photo, and could send it to me at tburdette19@yahoo.com I would appreciate it and will post it here. We would like to thank everyone that took time out of their busy schedule to visit with us!

May 1-2 1448 miles
Well, we thought the month would be off to a good start with this load. Deadhead from Joliet, IL to Wheeling, IL (56 Miles), and pick up a load for Salt Lake City (1392 miles). However our headlight switch broke Sunday afternoon, and we stopped outside Cheyenne, WY to get it fixed. No luck getting the part until Monday morning, so we got into Salt Lake City Monday eve at 6pm. Looks like we will be laid over till Tuesday morning.
